Like engineering, composition begins with constraints and relationships. A motif becomes a system; a score becomes a specification; performance reveals what the design can actually do.

Collaborative performance

and visual storytelling.
For a school performance, Yiming composed a work for the orchestra and adapted each section to the musicians’ individual styles while performing the piano part himself.
The project expanded through collaboration with the art department. Students created animation and artwork using digital tools, watercolor and colored pencils, bringing live music and visual narrative together for the wider school community.
